Harrisville Sportsman Banquet 2007

And the lucky winner is.....

It finally happened! One of us won a door prize gun! As we entered the banquet we were informed that the "G" poker chips had been removed and all poker chips were numbered. I pulled a 30, which landed me a great hard case for my shotgun w/scope. My dad, Gary pulled a 88 which led to a buck knife and Robert Vater, Sr. pulled the number 219. As I turned the corner to claim by prize, Bob had the biggest grin of all time on his face.

"It's a gun" he whispered.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"The ticket taker said so."

And off he was to fill out his paperwork to claim his prize. At the time, we had no idea what gun he had won, just that it was one of the 25 door prize guns that lined the front of the banquet hall. Looking through them, there were (12) .22's, (5) muzzleloaders (7) 12 gauge shotguns and (1) .410 pump shotgun. The first 19 names were drawn and he had avoided all but two of the .22's with a .410 and 3 12 guages remaining. The 20th name drawn was his which coincided with the last .22 before a run of shotguns. It's a sharp piece made by Mossberg and we've finally broken the seal by winning a door prize gun. Winning any gun is exciting and has us looking forward to next year. We didn't win anything else on the evening (Gary missed the $1800 payout on the 50/50 cash raffle by 8 numbers and Bob missed out on another $400+ dollar gun by one number) but we had a lot of fun enjoying the anticipation of the door prize and we can't wait to start shooting the new .22 rifle. Pic to come.
